America offers more K-12 and higher education options than any other country in the world. The links here include the comprehensive school lists of high schools, community colleges, universities, language schools as well as some search links. The schools provided here are selected schools from a number of creditable organizations. These organizations are TABS, AACC, U.S. News rankings, and AAIEP.

Boarding high schools are private schools. They have their own traditional heritages, yet all emphasize academic excellence and community spirit.Boarding schools are usually renowned for the outstanding education they provide.Due to their exceptional university acceptance rate, they are often taken as university preparatory institutions.While some are co-ed schools, others enroll either boys or girls.A boarding school requires all students to live on campus.Thus, it is an ideal choice for international students whose parents are concerned about safety and appropriate guardianship.

Community colleges, two-year Associate degree-granting educational institutes, provide a great variety of programs.Their academic programs lead to the award of an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree.This degree allows students to transfer to a four-year university to complete their bachelor's degree. This is commonly referred to as the “2+2” system (2 years community college + 2 years university = a 4-year Bachelor's degree).

Community college vocational programs provide practical training for those who want to enter the workforce after graduation.Community colleges also have various certificate programs to fulfill different people's needs in their professions. Some community colleges provide language programs for international students. Therefore, quite a few international students go to community colleges to improve their English skills and prepare to transfer to other universities.

Universities refer to four-year education institutions. Thousands of university options are available in the U.S.Universities include undergraduate programs and graduate programs.Undergraduate programs include all major academic disciplines that will lead to a 4-year Bachelor's degree. Graduate schools include Master's degree and PhD programs.Master's programs are the extension of undergraduate programs.Following completion of either a Bachelor's or a Master's degree, students can choose to apply to a PhD program.These programs are research-oriented and are designed for those who desire a career in research, a career in university teaching, or both.A bachelor's degree from an accredited institute is required to enter any master's program. In some programs, however, master's programs and PhD programs are two different routes. That means a master's degree sometimes is not necessary to enter a PhD program.

Language programs are provided nation-wide and are suitable for students at different levels. English speaking, listening, reading, and writing training classes are the basic core at any language school. Some schools also provide university entrance exam preparation classes, and vocational classes such as computer technology, business, communications, which students can take in addition to standard ESL (English as a Second Language) classes.
