Next, there is the cost myth.Many Taiwanese believe that the US is “an expensive place to study.”Actually, it is possible for students to finish their college education in less than four years.Degrees are awarded upon the completion of necessary credits to be taken, not the duration of time.There are different ways to accumulate your credits at a faster rate, including taking extra courses in summer and winter sessions, and taking more credits every semester/quarter of the regular school year.These ways will help alleviate students' financial load by shortening their duration of study.

Community colleges are perfect institutes for international students to start their university education in the U.S.Applying for a community college is not as difficult as applying for a university.In other words, the entrance requirements are much lower.Additionally, the tuition in community colleges is much lower, and credits taken in community colleges can normally be transferred to universities (provided that the academic performance of students wanting to transfer to a 4-year university is acceptable).Therefore, international students can attend community colleges both as a fantastic educational experience in and of itself, and as a steppingstone to their 4-year university degree.
